Ethical living

A mindful consumer

  • Life is so busy, especially at this time of year. Being a mum is busy (but magical too ✨), being self-employed is busy...plus trying to fit in all those things I enjoy doing, even just reading a book...I find my mind getting faster. I’m scrolling through these little squares more and more which contributes to this feeling and I also spend more money and compare myself more when I’m mindlessly scrolling and seeing ‘shiney’, beautiful things to buy. I love so much about Instagram and have made some beautiful connections on here. But, it’s time for me to have a break, to get grounded, to enjoy life away from social media. Something else I’ve been wondering is if there’s a way of running a business without the need to be on social media 🧐 I’d love anyone’s insights (feel free to message me through my blog, link in profile). I want to be more present and connected, to spend more time with my family and friends, in nature and doing the things that nurture me and to SLOW down. Sending you all much love and hope you have a wonderful Christmas, and here’s to a happy, and loving new year...particularly considering today’s election results. Got to keep the faith in that respect and do what we can individually 💕💕 #littlepieceofwonder
  • It’s been a week of colds in our house and after a week of it I’m starting to feel sorry for myself. We had planned to get the Christmas tree up today, but that will have to wait. I had to cancel some festive fun in London yesterday and am missing getting out into the wintery countryside to feel the fresh air on my face! I know it’s only a cold and I’m grateful for so much. Just wanted to say hello and share this photo from @anniespratt - her images always make me happy - lots of nature pics #littlepieceofwonder
  • I’ve always dreamt of holidaying with my family in a remote cabin in Scandinavia, surrounded by nature; forests, water, wildlife, tranquility. A winter retreat with a roaring fire, blankets, wool slippers and all round cosyness. As I work today, I’m listening to the @onlyinlapland album Scapes. It’s a collection of sounds from life in Lapland recorded in the north of Finland. I feel like I’m being transported there. It’s such a treat on this chilly day when I’m dreaming of far away landscapes. #littlepieceofwonder Image: Jacalyn Beales for Unsplash
  • I love a bit of history and we recently visited @themerchantshouse near us in #marlborough It was great as we took our little one with us and I hope she grows up to be interested in these things. We’re also @nationaltrust members and wandering around one of their houses or gardens is one of my favourite things to do. I remember on one of our first dates my husband @roaming_the_paths took me to #nunneycastle and I feel in love with it. A small castle 🏰 ruin with a little moat around it. So romantic 💕 I love imagining who lived there before and what life was like then. Merchants House extend their beautiful shop into the old house at Christmas and I can’t wait to have a wander round it and get into the festive spirit ✨ #littlepieceofwonder Oh and love this photo of the loves of my life 💕💕
  • Welcome October...Autumn...my favourite season full of cosiness, oranges, yellows and reds, bright sunny and chilly days. The smell of woodsmoke from cottages, blankets, candles, socks 🧦 and scarves. 🍂 #littlepieceofwonder Image @anniespratt
  • Stunning autumn weather. This is home. Feeling #grateful.
  • I suggested to my husband @roaming_the_paths that we could go to the coast over the bank holiday. But after further consideration we decided it would be too busy. So instead I’m looking forward to time relaxing in the garden and reading books I’ve been wanting to get into for a while and spending quality time with my baby girl and husband. This photo was from a trip to Pembrokeshire a few years ago...an image to give me a little fix of the glorious sea. Happy bank holiday to you all whatever you’re up to.
  • I know I shouldn’t say it...and wish the Summer away...but I feel Autumn in the air. I’m definitely all about the #hygge - cosy jumpers, walks in the chilly fresh air, snuggling by an open fire, the smell of wood smoke when I’m out and about in our village. This photo was from a weekend away with some uni girlfriends a few years ago and it was lush! Cosy pub nights, meals and wine at our AirBNB, a hot tub, lots of chat and quality time. These times are some of those when I’m happiest. Autumn is my favorite season, so I’ll be starting to dig out those jumpers and get ready for the cosy fest!
